The broad aims of Christian Community Schooling are:

(a) To provide an education of high academic standards based on:
• An acceptance of the lordship of Christ, and
• An acceptance of the Bible as the revealed Word of God;
as these are defined in the Statement of Faith of the company.

(b) To provide an education that also:
• Fosters self-discipline in the learner while teaching him to accept the discipline of the church, which is the Body of Christ, and to obey the laws of the Government.
• Develops the individuality of the learner and stresses the function of the learner as a member of the Body of Christ and of the community.
• Trains the learner in the moral and ethical standards of the Bible as interpreted in the teaching of the New Testament.
• Develops the learner’s creative and critical abilities.
• Stresses co-operation rather than competition and fosters the development of the gifts, skills and abilities of the learner for the service of Jesus Christ in the Body of Christ and the community.

We believe in the Divine inspiration, the infallibility and supreme authority of the Old and New Testaments in their entirety and that the Holy Spirit so moved the writers that what they wrote are authoritative statements of truth for all matters of faith and conduct.

We believe there is one God in whom there are three equal Divine Persons, revealed as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and who of His own sovereign will created the heavens, the earth and all that is contained within the Universe.

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternally existing, only begotten Son of the Father, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. As God He became flesh and dwelt among us; as man He was God.

We believe all men are in a fallen, sinful and lost condition through the rebellion of Adam and Eve, who were created without sin, and in this state of depravity are helpless to save themselves and are under the condemnation of God to eternal punishment in Hell.

We believe that the salvation from the penalty and consequences of sin is found only through the substitutionary, atoning death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe it is the Holy Spirit alone who convicts men of sin; leads them to repentance; creates faith within them and regenerates and fills those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord. It is the indwelling Spirit who bestows the Gifts of the Spirit and manifests the Fruit of the Spirit in the believer.

We believe Christ died for our sins, was buried and the third day rose from the dead; that He appeared to men who touched Him and knew his bodily presence and that He ascended to His Father.

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ will return in person with His saints and that the full consummation of the Kingdom of God awaits His return.

We believe those who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit will receive a resurrection body at the return of Jesus Christ and be forever with the Lord, while those who have not believed will be resurrected to stand at the Judgement Seat of God to receive His judgement and eternal condemnation to Hell.

We believe in the actual existence of Satan who is the father of all evil and opposed to God although ultimately subject to the purposes of God and destined to be confined forever to Hell.

We believe the Church is the Body of Christ composed of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, which finds its visible manifestation in the local community of believers and ministers through the co-operative exercise of God-given gifts by the entire membership. Each local community of believers is competent under Christ as Head of the Church to order its life without interference from any authority whether civil or ecclesiastical.

We believe there are two ordinances instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ:
– Baptism by immersion of all believers;
– The Lord’s Supper, which is a memorial and proclamation of the Lord’s death until He returns.

Our purpose is to be a Christian educational community, growing faith, character and abilities through teaching and learning excellence, in partnership with families and the Church.

The strategic intentions of the Board of Maitland Christian School are guided and underpinned by:
• Our Moral Owners (Metford Community Baptist Church) who continue to seek to glorify God, love and serve the community through the ministry of Maitland Christian School;
• Our Constitution, Statement of Faith and Purpose which are central as we seek to be a Christian educational community, growing faith, character and abilities through teaching and learning excellence, in partnership with families and the Church;
• Our Biblical Values which are lived out, taught, and promoted in our Christian educational community.

We pursue the following strategic intentions towards our purpose so that:
1. Our Graduates will grow in faith, character and abilities, being encouraged to live God’s purposes for their lives, to respond to the gospel of Jesus and to have a Christian perspective that equips them to meet the challenges of the world;

2. Our Staff will model Christian character and strive for teaching and learning excellence. They will grow spiritually, professionally and relationally to enable them to add significant value to the learning experiences of our students;

3. Our resource sustainability will allow us to continue to provide and maintain an inspiring environment to achieve our purpose;

4. Our culture is Christ-centred and partners with families and the church. It will strengthen us as a welcoming, accessible and outward-looking Christian educational community that grows faith, character and abilities through partnerships with local, national and global communities;

5. Our governance will ensure we provide effective strategic and operational leadership to achieve our purpose and to do all for God’s glory.

As a Christian educational community, we hold the following Biblical values and seek to promote and model these among our students and their families by the teaching and lifestyle of all Maitland Christian School Board and Staff.

With God’s help the Board and Staff will:
a) Give first priority in life to the one true God revealed in the Bible as three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. – Matt 4:10; Matt 22:37; 2 Cor 13:14
b) Not worship material goods, popularity or power. – Mark 8:36
c) Not use language that is blasphemous or unwholesome. – Ephesians 4:29
d) Be just and fair in all dealings with other people. Not unfairly discriminate in relationships against others because of race, beliefs, sex, disability or values. – Gal 3:28
e) Be willing to support families and to provide for family needs and to set apart time for God and relaxation. – 1 Tim 5:18b; 1 Tim 2:2b
f) Honour parents and those set in authority over us. – Eph 6:1-3; Col 3:22
g) Respect the sanctity of life in all situations, love others as oneself and avoid actions, words or attitudes that will deliberately hurt others. Be quick to forgive where offences have occurred. – John 15:13; Matt 6:12
h) Respect the sanctity of marriage as between one man and one woman as a lifelong commitment, rejecting divorce as an option to solving marriage difficulties except as allowed by the Bible. Maintain fidelity in marriage, as defined above, and live a life consistent with the Biblical principle that the only right relationship context where sex occurs is within marriage. – 1 Thess 4:3; Heb 13:4; Gen 2:23-24; Mark 10:7-9; Matthew 19:1-12; 1 Cor 6:9
i) Respect the property and good name of others and not steal their property or their reputation. – Eph 4:31,32; Matt 19:18
j) Speak truthfully and not lie or spread false or distorted information about others. – Col 3:9
k) Abstain from greed, lust, pornography, gluttony, drunkenness and banned substances. – Rom 6:11-14
l) Handle disputes or grievances in a God honouring and Biblical manner. – Matt 7:1-5; James 4:11
m) Not adhere to any occult beliefs, values or practices, e.g. astrology, divination, eastern spiritualism, or mysticism, New Age beliefs or practices, or any other religious or cultish practices based on the above, and contrary to the Word of God. – Deut 18:10-12; Gal 5:19; Rev 2
